Dr. Ekins is Faculty Emeritus from Butte College’s English Dept. At Butte he served as dean of instruction, director of the Honors Program and faculty advisor to Phi Theta Kappa. Ekins taught writing classes at the City University of New York, the University of Redlands and the University of Maine. His academic degrees include an M.A. in Creative Writing from the University of Utah. Ekins is a prize-winning author who has published short-stories, poetry and non-fiction. With his wife, Helen, he is co-author of the best-selling hiking guide, The Flumes and Trails of Paradise: Hiking through History on the Ridge.
