Ruthe is an English professor at College of the Redwoods and writes both fiction and non-fiction. Her memoir “Tonight We Dash” in Permanent Vacation was nominated for a Pushcart Prize.

Lydia and Emily, both 17, are motivated to share their story in order to affect community change. Lydia studies at Humboldt State University. Emily is at Portland State University. Both are English majors.
