Poets, fiction writers, and nonfiction writers all utilize some of the techniques of emerging anthropologists as they work to understand the lives of characters-be it themselves or others. At the crossroads of this work writers all need a deep and somewhat detached idea of culture. In this workshop, participants will read a small handful of illuminative examples and then begin the process of micro-field-work.
