Anatomy of a Scene

Tara Grover Smith

This workshop on film screenwriting focuses on visualizing three-act story structure so your story can transform into a film and you can shift into being a filmmaker. Attendees will watch clips in various genres while reading the corresponding scripts, and then learn about distilling their own stories into a one or two sentence logline. Workshop attendees will also learn about developing character arcs and conflict, and creating a solid outline. Tara will demonstrate how to create a lookbook as a tool to aid you in completing your own project, as well as attract producers, directors of photography, actors, and other collaborators. Attendees will begin to develop a beat sheet for their story in order to ensure three-act structure is in place in addition to escalating tension and dramatic irony.
